What is an INR Test
The INR Test measures the blood INR level.
Why is an INR test important?
The INR Test is used to assess several blood clotting pathways. Regular INR testing is done to help manage medication doses in patients taking warfarin / Coumadin. The PTT checks another part of the clotting pathway.
It stands for International Normalized Ratio (INR) and is a measure of how much longer it takes the blood to clot when oral anti coagulation is used. For example, if your INR is 2 the blood is taking twice as long as normal to clot.
