How LabReqs Works: From Order to Results

Ordering lab tests without a doctor sounds too good to be true. Here's what actually happens.

We hear the same thing from new customers a lot: "I was worried it was a scam." We understand. If you've never ordered lab work outside a doctor's office before, the whole thing seems suspicious. You pay a website, you drive to LabCorp, you walk in without seeing a physician, blood gets drawn, and a few days later results show up in your email.

That's actually the whole process. Nothing hidden, nothing sketchy. Here's exactly how it works and why it's legitimate.

The full process, step by step

Step 1: You order online

Pick the test or panel you need. Add it to your cart. Check out. Total time: usually under two minutes if you know what you want.

If you don't know what you want, browse our titer collection or TB test options, or email us your school's compliance list and we'll tell you exactly which panel to order.

Payment is upfront. Cash, credit card, HSA, or FSA. Insurance generally doesn't cover school-compliance titers because they're not medically necessary — they're a paperwork requirement — so paying directly is often the cheapest path anyway.

Step 2: We generate a physician-signed lab order (the "requisition")

Every lab test in the US requires a physician's order. That's the law. You can't just walk into LabCorp and ask for a titer — the lab needs a signed order from a licensed provider to run it.

That's what we handle. When you place an order, a licensed physician on our medical staff reviews the requested tests and signs an order (called a "lab requisition") authorizing the lab to draw and process your blood. This is the same document your doctor's office would produce if you asked them to order the same tests.

The requisition arrives in your email, usually within an hour of your order. Sometimes faster.

Step 3: You walk into a draw site

Take the requisition to LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, or one of our partner clinics. You can print it or show it on your phone.

  • No appointment needed at most LabCorp and Quest locations, though you can book one on their websites if you prefer a guaranteed slot.
  • Bring a photo ID. The draw site will verify your name and date of birth against the requisition.
  • The draw itself takes about five minutes. A phlebotomist draws one or two small tubes of blood and sends them for processing. That's it.

You don't need to explain anything. Hand over the requisition, show your ID, and the staff handles the rest. Most of them process these orders every day.

Step 4: The lab runs the test

LabCorp or Quest processes your blood. Depending on the test, this takes 1-3 business days for the actual analysis, plus a day or so for administrative processing on both ends.

Step 5: We email you your results

Once the lab reports back, we send your results as a password-protected PDF to the email address on your order.

  • The password is your date of birth in MMDDYYYY format.
  • The password is permanently bound to the PDF — even after our link expires, the file itself is protected.
  • If you have trouble opening the PDF, email us and we'll re-send with instructions.

Step 6: You upload to your compliance portal

Take the PDF and upload it to CastleBranch, Complio, ACEMAPP, or whichever portal your school uses. See our step-by-step compliance portal guide for the exact process.

What makes it legitimate

Real physicians write the orders. Every requisition we generate is signed by a licensed physician on our medical staff, not an algorithm. If a lab challenges the order, we can provide the physician's credentials.

Real accredited labs process the tests. LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics are the two largest clinical labs in the United States. They handle billions of tests per year. Your blood is processed the same way whether the order came from us, your PCP, or a hospital.

Real results. The PDF you receive is a genuine lab report. It has the lab's letterhead, the physician-of-record, the test methodology, the reference ranges, and the results. Compliance portals recognize these reports because they've seen millions of them.

Real accountability. We're a real Texas-based business that's been operating clinics since 2008 and offering online lab ordering for about a decade. We have thousands of published reviews, a live customer service team, and real people behind the phone number.

Common questions

"Do I need a doctor to interpret the results?"

For school compliance, usually no. Your titer report will state clearly whether you're immune or non-immune. If you're immune, upload the PDF and you're done. If you're non-immune, talk to your student health office or primary care about a booster.

If your results show something unexpected — very unusual numbers, an equivocal result, or a positive TB result — we recommend following up with a primary care provider for clinical guidance. We provide the testing; we don't provide medical treatment or ongoing care.

"What if my school won't accept the results?"

This almost never happens, but if it does, contact us. In our experience, when a school flags results, it's usually a formatting issue we can fix quickly — a name mismatch, a missing reference range, or a request for a slightly different version of the test. We've handled thousands of these edge cases.

"Can I use insurance?"

Most insurance plans don't cover titers when they're ordered for school compliance rather than a medical reason. You can submit for reimbursement on your own using an HSA or FSA account, and we provide itemized receipts on request. But the cash price is often cheaper than the insurance copay would be anyway.

"What if I need a specific lab location?"

At checkout you can specify a preferred lab. If you have a lab you already like, or your school specifically wants results from LabCorp vs. Quest, tell us and we'll route the order accordingly.

"How fast can I actually get results?"

Honest answer: 2-5 business days from draw to results in most cases. Some tests are faster (a Hep B surface antibody titer can come back in 24 hours from many labs). Some tests are slower (TB blood tests can take 5-7 business days depending on the lab). We'll never promise 24-hour results across the board, because we can't control the lab's processing time. What we can promise: we get the order in your inbox within an hour and get results out to you the same day we receive them from the lab.

What we don't do

We're deliberately narrow in what we offer. Being clear about that saves everyone time:

  • We don't do primary care. We don't diagnose, prescribe, or treat. We provide testing.
  • We don't do routine annual physicals. If your school requires a physical exam in addition to titers, that's a visit to a doctor's office.
  • We don't handle vaccine records lookup. If you had shots as a kid and just need proof they happened, that's a records request from your pediatrician's office or your state's immunization registry — not a titer question.
  • We don't do everything, and we don't want to. We focus on the specific problem of getting compliance testing done affordably and fast. That's the whole business.
